Wrath of Caine Typeface for Pusha T by DONDA

Wrath of Caine Typeface for Pusha T by DONDA

To create a consistent look between Pusha T's Wrath of Caine mixtape and it's associated singles, DONDA created a custom typeface that puts visual emphasis where Push does lyrically—on the product that fuels the street's most reliable black market, cocaine.

The face is an all-caps grotesque, based on Trade Gothic Condensed or something similar. It's been chiseled with tremendous detail to include lots of highlights and lowlights—you can almost feel the marks left by razorblades. A blind emboss would have been a gorgeous way to treat these letters on the packaging, were this a physical album instead of a digital-only mixtape. Alas, we're stuck in a mostly digital age, but DONDA is trying their best to help us forget that.

The visual effect looks particularly badass on the black singles, where the shorter song titles let the big, beautiful, letters take center stage—especially on Pain.
