Run-D.M.C. x Adidas "Christmas in Hollis"
The shoe itself is pretty nominal (perfect for a subdued "Christmas-in-July" moment that doesn't go full-reindeer), but has small touches that reward both the casual observer and avowed sneakerhead alike, such as the embossed Run-D.M.C. logo on the back sole and the red contrast stitching on the top edge. The black-on-black colorway is especially sexy, and lets's the crisp white sole and signature shell-toe sit forward.
The campaign to promote the shoes feature some pretty nifty background graphics that may as well have come from Haring himself — it would have been nice to see this work into the shoe somehow, perhaps on the insole or treads. Small gripes aside, the shoe is a fitting and festive tribute to the visual and musical artists that made "Christmas in Hollis" a beloved holiday staple for almost 30 years (and counting). And while they come with a pair of black laces, you won't be needing them. Clearly, these were always meant to be unlaced.
